THE SAFE BET THAT STILL FEELS NICE

Hyatt Regency is one of those brands that becomes more valuable the more you travel. You see the name, know you're getting a real full-service hotel, and can usually book without wondering whether somebody got creative with the definition of “upscale.”

As one of the core brands of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Hyatt Regency has the reach to handle almost anything: conventions, business trips, family vacations, airport stays, cruises, city weekends and resort trips. Many properties bring the big lobby, restaurants, bars, pools, club lounges and meeting spaces that made the traditional full-service hotel useful in the first place.

For Black travelers, Hyatt Regency isn't necessarily the hotel we're posting twenty pictures of. It's the hotel we trust to do its job. And sometimes that's exactly what the trip needs. Put us somewhere comfortable, give us a good location, a proper bar downstairs, a nice pool when the destination calls for it, and let us go experience the city. There are certainly more exciting brands on this list. But when we're somewhere unfamiliar and see Hyatt Regency, there's a level of reassurance in already knowing the assignment.
