Last year I stayed at CitizenM Champs-Élysées, and honestly? It reminded me how much hospitality design influences the way I think about residential spaces. Not because the hotel was overly extravagant or trying too hard to impress people. Quite the opposite. It was intentional. Efficient. Layered. Comfortable. Cool without begging for attention. The kind of space that understands mood. And that’s the thing I think people are actually searching for when they talk about wanting a beautiful home. They’re not just looking for furniture. They’re looking for a feeling. Hotels do this exceptionally well. Great hospitality design anticipates needs before you even realize you have them. And when I travel, I pay attention to all of it. The lounge layouts. The materials. The soundtrack playing softly in the background. The scale of the furniture. The tension between modern and lived-in. Because inspiration rarely arrives sitting at your desk staring at a screen. Sometimes it shows up while you’re jet lagged, drinking coffee too slowly, looking at how morning light hits a stone floor in another country. To me, approachable luxury has always been about creating spaces that feel elevated and human. Beautiful, but still livable. Sophisticated, but still personal. Anyway… here’s your reminder to travel, notice things, romanticize your life a little, and pay attention to how spaces make you feel. That’s usually where the best inspiration lives.
