A great hotel can make the trip. A great hotel brand can make us start looking for that name everywhere we go. BlkTravel's Top 30 isn't about which company has the most hotels or the fanciest definition of luxury. We're asking a more useful question: When we see this brand in a destination, how excited are we to stay there?

We look at the hotels themselves, the destinations, service, design, food, nightlife, resort amenities, value, loyalty benefits and, most importantly, Black Traveler Comfort. That means luxury brands, lifestyle hotels and Caribbean all-inclusives can all compete on the same list. Because sometimes we want the suite. Sometimes we want the rooftop. Sometimes we want the beach.
