Thompson Hotels sits in that sweet spot where luxury, design and neighborhood culture actually know each other. These are upscale hotels for travelers who want somewhere polished without feeling like they checked into their parents’ idea of a five-star hotel.
That makes Thompson a natural fit for BlkTravel. The brand tends to land in cities and neighborhoods we actually want to explore, with strong restaurants, rooftop bars, pools and social spaces that give you a reason to spend some time downstairs. But Thompson isn't trying as hard to create a scene as W or SLS. The energy is more effortless. Come downstairs looking good, grab a cocktail, eat somewhere worth eating, then go experience the city.
For the grown birthday, couples weekend, solo trip or city getaway where the hotel needs some personality, Thompson gets it right more often than not.

Thompson feels like somebody finally figured out that grown doesn't have to mean boring. It's stylish, social and upscale, but rarely feels like the hotel is trying harder than the guests.
For Black travelers, we especially like that Thompson usually understands its role: give us a beautiful place to stay, put something good downstairs, and then connect us to a neighborhood worth exploring.
It's not the loudest brand in our Top 30.
It might be one of the coolest.
