The Sands at Grace Bay Review
This is exactly why BlkTravel's ranking won't always look like everybody else's. Could we put another $1,000-a-night resort here? Sure. But The Sands gives you something incredibly valuable in Turks & Caicos: more vacation for your money.
You still wake up on Grace Bay. You still get beautiful pools. But families and groups can spread out in accommodations that make an extended stay much easier to live in. And then we went looking for our people. They're here.
We found plenty of Black travelers documenting stays at The Sands, which matters because these rankings aren't supposed to tell you where a luxury magazine thinks you belong. They're supposed to help identify where Black travelers are actually going and having good vacations.
The Sands isn't trying to win the fanciest-hotel contest. It's trying to give you a great Turks & Caicos trip. We'd take that deal.

The Sands moves significantly higher in our ranking because we're not interested in automatically putting the most expensive properties first.
Its strength is the amount of usable vacation travelers receive for their money: a prime Grace Bay beachfront location, large suite-style accommodations, multiple pools and a setup particularly well suited to families, groups and longer stays.
Then we applied our Black traveler test. The Sands passed.
We found substantial Black traveler content around the property, giving us confidence that our community isn't overlooking this resort simply because it lacks the ultra-luxury positioning of some competitors. When a property combines that level of community visibility with space, beach access and comparatively strong value, we think it deserves to outrank hotels that look more impressive on paper but have less relevance to the travelers we're serving.
