Curio Collection by Hilton Review

CURIO IS HILTON’S BOX OF CHOCOLATES

Curio Collection is Hilton basically saying, “This hotel is cool, but we're not changing it into a Hilton.” And we appreciate that. These are independent-feeling hotels that get access to the Hilton Honors machine while keeping their own names, designs and personalities.

That means Curio can be fantastic for BlkTravel. Instead of another predictable chain hotel, we can stay somewhere historic, beachfront, weird, sexy, locally famous or completely unexpected and still earn or burn Hilton points. The problem is that Curio is a collection, not a promise. One property might be one of our favorite hotels in the city. The next might have us wondering exactly what Hilton saw in it.

And that's why we never recommend booking Curio simply because it says Curio. Reviews matter. Renovation dates matter. Location matters. The actual damn hotel matters.

The BlkTravel Take

Unique

Polished

Independent

Curio is less of a hotel brand and more of a Hilton-approved treasure hunt.

We've found properties with real personality that we'd choose over a standard Hilton without thinking twice. We've also seen some where the “unique character” appears to be doing a lot of work in the description.

The upside is huge, especially if you've got Hilton status or a pile of Honors points.

Just don't book the collection. Book the hotel.
