BROWN'S MILL GOLF COURSE

Brown's Mill is an 18-hole City of Atlanta golf course on Atlanta's Southside, only about five miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It's public, visitor-friendly and challenging enough that bringing your clubs through ATL might actually make sense. Here's something Atlanta travelers don't hear enough: You can land at Hartsfield-Jackson and be on a golf course before you get anywhere near Buckhead.

Brown's Mill sits on Cleveland Avenue on Atlanta's Southside, roughly five miles from the airport. It's an 18-hole municipal course operated by the City of Atlanta, with public tee times available seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. That's a hell of an amenity for the right traveler. If your flight lands at 9:00 in the morning and hotel check-in isn't until 3:00, we can think of worse things to do than putting the clubs in the rental car and playing 18.

And Brown's Mill isn't here merely because it's convenient. The course has enough elevation changes, doglegs and varied holes to give you a legitimate round without requiring the price, dressiness or exclusivity people sometimes associate with golf travel. This is municipal golf. Check in. Grab your cart. Hit a few balls. Then go play. And we particularly like Brown's Mill for BlkTravel because it pulls visitors onto a side of Atlanta that tourism guides routinely drive right past.

You don't have to travel north of the city to find a good round.

Southside Atlanta plays golf too.

The BlkTravel Take

Local

Challenging

Unpretentious

Brown's Mill combines three things this list values heavily:

A real activity. Public accessibility. A location that actually works for travelers.

You're getting 18 holes, public tee times and proximity to the world's busiest airport. The City itself describes Brown's Mill as challenging enough for varying skill levels.

Tup Holmes gets our higher golf ranking because its history makes that round uniquely Atlanta.

Brown's Mill earns #4 because sometimes the pitch can be much simpler:

Your clubs came to Atlanta too. Go play.
