Sports & Games is about finding places around Atlanta where travelers can actually play. Want to get in 18 holes while you're in town? We'll take you beyond the obvious country-club conversation and into public courses around Cascade, Southwest Atlanta, South Fulton and the Eastside, including courses where Black Atlanta has been playing golf for generations. Looking for a basketball run? We're finding the parks and recreation centers where people actually hoop, not simply giving you a directory of every basketball court the city owns.

We'll do the same for tennis, pickleball, soccer and other recreational sports, including places where equipment can be rented or visitors can reasonably participate without already belonging to a private club or local league. And when Atlanta or the surrounding metro offers something more serious, we want that too. A real racing experience belongs here. A real dirt track can belong here. A place where you can actually get behind the wheel, swing the club, lace up, find a court or join the game belongs here.

This page is also an opportunity to show travelers another side of Black Atlanta. There are golf courses, parks, recreation centers and athletic communities throughout predominantly Black parts of metro Atlanta that receive almost no attention from traditional travel guides because they aren't conventional tourist attractions.
