LA FITNESS ATLANTIC STATION BASKETBALL COURT

Forget the workout.

We're sending you to the basketball court.

Among all the gyms, recreation centers and courts around Atlanta, LA Fitness Atlantic Station has built a reputation as one of the city's places to find serious pickup basketball. Games run, competition gets real, and the crowd can change completely depending on who happens to walk through the doors. There are LA Fitness locations all over metro Atlanta. Plenty of them have basketball courts. We're telling you to go to this one.

If you're visiting Atlanta and looking for a real pickup basketball run, LA Fitness Atlantic Station is one of the first places we'd send you. And we're not saying that because somebody looked through a list of gym amenities and saw “basketball court.” We know this court. BlkTravel's founder actually managed this LA Fitness, and during that time, the basketball court was one of those places where you never really knew who was going to walk into the gym and call next. Regulars. College players. Local hoopers. Influencers. Artists. Professional athletes. Celebrities. On different days, you might look over and see people like Lamar Odom, Adam Sandler, Akon or YFN Lucci around the court.

But the names aren't really the story. The run was. Games could be going throughout the day, and the level of competition made Atlantic Station different from a gym where five people occasionally happen to find each other and start playing. People came here to hoop. That's why it belongs this high. If you're staying in Midtown, Downtown, Buckhead or West Midtown and packed your basketball shoes, don't spend your vacation driving around Atlanta looking through park fences trying to figure out whether anybody is playing. Go to Atlantic Station. Walk upstairs. Listen for the basketballs. Then figure out who's got next. And understand something before you step onto the floor: You might have to earn your way onto this court.

Welcome to Atlanta.

The BlkTravel Take

Unpretentious

Playable

Historic

Because we're not ranking gyms.

We're ranking places to play.

And if the question is: “I'm visiting Atlanta. Where can I find a good basketball run?”

LA Fitness Atlantic Station deserves to be near the top of the answer.

Its location helps. The indoor court helps. Being able to play regardless of Atlanta heat or rain helps.

But none of those things put it at #2.

The basketball culture does.

Atlantic Station became the kind of court where serious local players mixed with athletes, entertainers, influencers and whoever else happened to show up ready to play.

There are prettier courts.

There are free courts.

There are more historically important basketball spaces.

But when you're traveling and you brought your shoes because you actually want to get a run in?

This is the one we'd tell you about.
