The African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta, better known as ADAMA, is a Black-founded and Black-centered cultural institution dedicated to contemporary art and culture from across the African Diaspora, connecting Atlanta to a much larger global Black story. Atlanta calls itself the Black Mecca. ADAMA asks what happens when the whole Diaspora comes to the Mecca.

ADAMA isn't interested in presenting Black art as one narrow American story. The institution looks outward, connecting Atlanta with artists and ideas spanning Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Black communities throughout the world. Lagos to Los Angeles. Dakar to Durban. Atlanta sitting somewhere in the middle of all of it. ADAMA also deliberately calls its programming “experiences.” The idea is to move beyond simply hanging work on walls through immersive exhibitions, cultural exchanges, conversations and multidisciplinary programming.

Its physical gallery is now at 352 University Avenue SW in Atlanta's historic Pittsburgh neighborhood, with public gallery hours Thursday through Saturday and appointments available on other days.
