Hammonds House Museum combines African American and African Diaspora art with the intimacy of a historic West End home, creating an experience where the building, neighborhood and collection all contribute to the story. There's something different about seeing Black art inside a historic Black Atlanta home. Hammonds House doesn't feel like one of those enormous museums where you're trying to cover three floors before your feet give up. It's intimate.

You move through rooms rather than massive galleries. You slow down. And you actually spend some time with the work. The museum's collection spans artists of African descent from the Americas, Africa and the Caribbean and includes hundreds of works, with names such as Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, Jacob Lawrence and Henry Ossawa Tanner represented in the collection.
