Miya Bailey already had Peters Street Station, City of Ink and years of cultural influence in Castleberry Hill when he opened Old Rabbit. But he created this space to do something more specific. Give artists the gallery. Old Rabbit opened on Peters Street in 2023 as a more traditional white-wall gallery, with an emphasis on solo exhibitions by Atlanta artists. That narrower purpose actually makes it more useful to a traveler.

You can look at who's exhibiting. See whether their work speaks to you. Then go. And because these are often solo exhibitions, you aren't just seeing one piece from an artist surrounded by 30 other names. You get enough work to begin understanding what that artist is actually trying to say. Recent programming shows the gallery continuing to operate as an active exhibition space, including solo exhibitions and participation in Atlanta's broader visual-arts calendar.

So what starts as a gallery visit can become a little exploration of Black creative Atlanta. That's much more interesting.
