Ebenezer Baptist Church is simultaneously one of America's most important Civil Rights landmarks and a living Black church, connecting the ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to an active Atlanta congregation today. We've already brought you here as part of the King historical experience. Now we want you to understand something different. Ebenezer didn't end when Dr. King died.

Founded in 1886, Ebenezer became the spiritual home of the King family. Martin Luther King Jr. later served as co-pastor alongside his father. The historic Heritage Sanctuary is the space most visitors associate with Dr. King. But across the street, the congregation continues worshipping in its modern Horizon Sanctuary. Ebenezer Baptist Church That's important. Because Ebenezer isn't simply preserved Black church history. It is Black church history continuing.

A traveler can visit the historic sanctuary and stand where Dr. King preached. And another morning, you can actually attend worship with the congregation. That's the difference between visiting a landmark and encountering a living institution.
