Ebenezer Baptist Church is simultaneously one of America's most important Black churches and an active Atlanta congregation, connecting the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with contemporary worship under Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Raphael G. Warnock. You can spend an entire Atlanta vacation learning about Black history. At Ebenezer, you can sit down inside a story that is still being written.

Founded in 1886, Ebenezer became the spiritual home of the King family. Dr. Martin Luther King Sr. served as pastor, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. later served as co-pastor with his father. The historic Auburn Avenue sanctuary remains part of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. But Ebenezer isn't simply something Atlanta preserved. It's still a church.

The active congregation worships in the Horizon Sanctuary under Rev. Dr. Raphael G. Warnock, who has served as senior pastor since 2005. And that creates one of the most uniquely Atlanta worship experiences imaginable: you may attend church and hear the Word preached by a sitting United States Senator. Warnock simultaneously serves as Ebenezer's senior pastor and as a U.S. Senator representing Georgia.

Think about the continuity of that. A church whose pulpit helped shape the Civil Rights Movement is now led by Georgia's first Black United States Senator. That's not an exhibit about the historic relationship between the Black church, politics and social justice. That's the relationship continuing.
