Best Outdoor Activities in Atlanta
(Click the Images for Full Review)
Atlanta may be a major city, but you don't have to travel far before the skyline starts disappearing behind trees. And sometimes the best Atlanta day doesn't happen inside Atlanta at all. Walk or bike the BeltLine. Spend the afternoon in Piedmont Park. Hike up Stone Mountain. Get on the Chattahoochee. Head north toward Lake Lanier or west toward Allatoona when the weather is calling for an actual day on the water.
That's the range we're building into this guide. Some experiences are easy additions to a city itinerary. You can spend a few hours outside and still be back at the hotel getting dressed for dinner. Others deserve the whole day. BlkTravel's Outdoor Activities guide will cover parks, trails, hiking, biking, water activities, lakes, outdoor attractions and adventures throughout the Atlanta metro and surrounding region when they're worth the drive.
And we aren't assuming Black travelers only came to Atlanta to eat, shop and go to the club. We hike. We boat. We fish. We bike. We take the kids outside. And sometimes we want to rent something, get on the water with our people and not see Downtown Atlanta again until tomorrow. Whether you want fresh air for an hour or an entire day outside the city, this is where we'll show you where to go.
