HIGH Frequency Friday Review

HIGH Frequency Friday turns the High Museum into one of Atlanta's best cultural date nights, combining gallery access, DJs, cocktails, guided tours and dancing on the first Friday of each month. This is the date where you wear the good outfit. During the day, the High is one of Atlanta's major art museums.

On the first Friday of the month, the assignment changes. HIGH Frequency Friday brings DJs into the experience while keeping the galleries open for exploring. You can look at art, grab a cocktail, join a gallery tour, dance and actually move through the museum together instead of whispering your way from painting to painting.

That's why we ranked the event, not simply “go to the High Museum.” It gives couples culture without making the date feel academic and nightlife without requiring the club. And because it only happens once a month, travelers should plan around it. Current 2026 programming continues on the first Friday with events scheduled from 6–10 p.m., and preregistration is required.

BlkTravel would choose HIGH Frequency Friday for: dressed-up dates, art lovers, Black professionals, cocktails, music, dancing, anniversary weekends and couples looking for something Atlanta-specific.

The BlkTravel Take

Fly

Cultured

Social

HIGH Frequency Friday earns #3 because it gives

this ranking something the first two can't: culture.

Painted Duck and Puttshack are fun. The High gives you art, conversation, music and Atlanta's social scene in the same experience. This is exactly the kind of event BlkTravel should surface because a visitor searching “things to do in Atlanta” could easily never realize that the museum turns into this.
